The Creek Between the Hedges, Drew Halbert

For the senior capstone course, my spring 2016 Senior Project students worked with content related to UGA’s campus watershed initiative, a town/gown stream restoration and protection initiative aimed at engaging the campus community in sustainability through watersheds. The UGA Office of Sustainability held a ‘Watershed Stories’ multimedia contest during the term so the students submitted their work to the competition and were quite successful.

In the video category, Drew Halbert tied for first place with for his video, The Creek Between the Hedges (left). In the graphic design category, Leah Schultz won for her Invasive project about local invasive species, and honorable mention went to to Julie Rodriguez and Abby King for their Chew Crew Calendar. Other finalists from the class included Joshua Gilley for his Watershed Walk App and Ruby Lin for Athens Watershed Geocaching.

Seniors Stage Seven Exhibition Downtown at Ciné

In addition to the traditional BFA exhibition held each term for graduating undergrads in the gallery spaces of the School of Art, this group of graphic design seniors initiated a second exhibition at Ciné theater in downtown Athens during finals week, which allowed them to show a broader collection of their work and engage an audience beyond the School and campus.

Because their cohort of seven students was smaller than the typical graduating group of majors (due to some curricular changes) the seven students decided to name their show Seven. The group collaborated on a promotional poster that allowed customization by each student. While the posters hung in spaces around the School, the graphics were collected into the gif on the right for digital promotion.
